Having sailed for almost 50 years, when it comes to boats, there is not much that RANDAL COOPER does not know. Randal started sailing a Heron as a boy, trialled for the 1988 Olympics on a 20ft Tornado catamaran and held the National Championship on an 18ft Stingray cat. Throughout his sailing career, Randal has been racing and cruising all types of watercraft, on many stretches of water, from extended cruising in a trailer sailer off Airlie Beach, to competing in the Blue Water Classic off Port Lincoln. His penchant now is for vintage wooden boats, in particular - the Restricted 21's.
Randal started as an apprentice builder, but the draw of the boating industry changed that. He has over 25 years experience in yacht rigging. His expertise extends from routine maintenance and insurance repairs to rig modification, and custom order designing. Randal is an authorised repairer with the major marine insurers.
Randal also specialises in custom stainless steel and aluminium fabrications, custom manufacturing anything from pulpits and staunchoins to pushpits and stern rails. Randal has had several 'project boats' that have been restored from doom. The gallery under the 'His Work' tab to the left shows some of these projects and custom fabrications.
